What is Jamdani?

Jamdani is a traditional weaving style with roots in Bangladesh and India. Characterized by intricate patterns and lightweight texture, it's created using a labor-intensive process where supplementary weft threads are intricately added to the loom. Renowned for its fine craftsmanship, Jamdani holds cultural and historical significance in Indian history textiles.

The technique of Jamdani involves the intricate process of adding supplementary weft threads to create beautiful patterns on a handloom. Skilled artisans meticulously weave these additional threads into the base fabric, resulting in geometric designs that appear to float on the surface. The patterns can range from geometric shapes to elaborate floral motifs, and they often exhibit a delicate and flowy quality.
